The first Emergent Scholar Seminar was held at the National Higher Education Research Institute (IPPTN), University Sains Malaysia in Penang, Malaysia on October 9-11, 2014.  These seminars are arranged for emergent scholars (newly completing the PhD or in initial faculty positions) to assist them in developing papers capable of resulting in international publication.  The seminar is organized by having participants respond to a brief concept paper which is then presented to the seminar group, discussed and revised according to the desired route for publication.

The IPPTN seminar, facilitated by Christopher Collins and Deane Neubauer, resulted in eight papers that were combined in a book prospectus submitted to Palgrave Macmillan for possible publication in its new Pivot series.  The manuscript was accepted for publication in mid-March 2015 and will be submitted for publication at the end of May.
